How does the eCipher password protection feature work?

Email is by design neither private nor secure. NumeroLogic Systems, LLC (NLS) intends to solve this problem. NLS believes that everyone has the right to private, secure email. Privacy Policy:
Information Collection & Use: NumeroLogic Systems, LLC is the sole owner of the information collected. NLS collects personally identifiable information from our users at several different points as required for use of the eCipher software application. Orders: If you purchase a product or service from us, we request certain personally identifiable information from you on our order form. You must provide contact information (such as name, email, and shipping address) and financial information (such as credit card number, expiration date). We use this information for billing purposes and to fill your orders. If we have trouble processing an order, we will use this information to contact you. Cancellations: User understands that to cancel service, user must contact NLS by email at support@ecipher.com to inform the Company of intent to cancel subscription or service. Full refunds for fees charged and/or collected will only be approved if the cancellation of service occurs within the allotted timeframe for refund qualification, as defined by the Company, in which case the entirety of the fees charged and/or collected for the billing period will be returned to the User. Currently, the refund period is defined by the business days immediately following the signup date, and is determined to be thirty (30) business days for an annual billing schedule. NLS does not prorate or by any other means determine, allocate or distribute partial refunds based on remaining duration of service after cancellation. Refunds will not be issued to a User based upon their personal views or opinions of NLS. This includes the quality of content, delays in deliveries, or related matters. Any exceptions to this policy are at the sole discretion of the Company. NLS will not be held responsible for charges incurred due to User inputting an invalid or incorrect email address when signing up. Furthermore User's non-use of the Product and Service or lost activation codes, shall not justify User receiving any refund for any services charged. Authorization, Credit Cards, and Debit Cards: By signing up for any service provided by NLS and by providing either credit card, or debit card, the User consents to the subsequent recurring billing for services/access provided by the Company, User consents to recurring billing for services provided on an ongoing basis. Such recurring billing shall continue until such time as the User cancels the service in accordance with the cancellation policy. No Partnership or Agency: User understands and acknowledges that no joint venture, partnership, employment, or agency relationship exists or is created between User and NLS as a result of subscription to Product or Service or use of the website. Surveys or Contests: From time-to-time we may provide you the opportunity to participate in contests or surveys on our site. If you participate, we will request certain personally identifiable information from you. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary and you therefore have a choice whether or not to disclose this information. The requested information typically includes contact information (such as name and shipping address), and demographic information (such as zip code). We use this information to notify contest winners and award prizes. Uses of Information: NumeroLogic Systems, LLC will use information submitted to process orders, keep a database of the users of our software, and/or add you to our newsletter mailing list. The latter will only be performed if you do not opt out of our newsletter mailing list. Communications: Special Offers and Updates: We will occasionally send you information on eCipher, as well as any new product announcements or special sales promotions. This information will be sent through email and digital promotional correspondence. Out of respect for your privacy, we present the option not to receive these types of communications. Please see the "Choice and Opt-out." Service-related Announcements: We will send you service-related announcements when it is necessary to do so. Generally, you may not opt-out of these communications, which are not promotional in nature. If you do not wish to receive them, you have the option to deactivate your NLS account. If you have questions about deactivating your NLS account, please contact support@ecipher.com. Customer Service: Based upon the personally identifiable information you provide us, we will also communicate with you in response to your inquiries, to provide the services you request, and to manage your account. We will communicate with you by email or telephone, in accordance with your wishes. Profile: We store information that we collect through cookies, log files, and third party website visitor tracking software to create a "profile" of how you use our website. We do not tie your personally identifiable information, and your purchasing history, to information in the profile. We do not share your profile with other third parties. Information Sharing and Disclosure: We share personally identifiable information with only the third parties described below. Agents: We use other third parties to provide online web search marketing services for our site. When you visit our site, we will share our web site tracking records as necessary for the third party to provide that service. These service providers are not provided with any personally identifiable information. Legal Disclaimer: We reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on our website. Choice/Opt-out: We provide you the opportunity to 'opt-out' of having your personally identifiable information used for certain purposes, when we ask for this information. For example, if you purchase a product/service but do not wish to receive any additional marketing material from us, you can indicate your preference on our registration form. You will be notified when your personal information is collected by any third party that is not our agent/service provider, so you can make an informed choice as to whether or not to share your information with that party. Log Files: As is true of most websites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. We use this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, to administer the site, to track users' movements around the site and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. We do not link this automatically collected data to personally identifiable information. We use two third-party tracking services named Google Analytics and NextSTAT that use cookies to track non-personally identifiable information about visitors to our site in the aggregate usage and volume statistics to improve site performance and aid marketing efforts. Cookies: A cookie is a small text file that is stored on a user's computer for record-keeping purposes. We use cookies on this site. We do not link the information we store in cookies to any personally identifiable information you submit while on our site. We use session ID cookies to make it easier for you to navigate our site. A session ID cookie expires when you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for an extended period of time. Access to Personally Identifiable Information: If your personally identifiable information changes, or if you no longer desire our service, you may update it by emailing our Customer Support at support@ecipher.com or by contacting us by telephone or postal mail at the contact information listed below. If you have registered an NLS product and have given us personally identifiable information, you may login to your account to view your name, registered email address(es). A Change Password link and tool is also provided. Security: The security of your personal information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information (such as credit card number) on our registration or order forms, we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. You can securely exchange confidential email with your attorney, doctor, accountant, business partners, employees, customers, and family members-just about anyone. Strong encryption and digital signatures ensure safe transit, integrity, and authenticity of your email communications. In addition, unlike many encryption programs, eCipher allows you to control what happens to your message once it's been received. eCipher works with most email programs, including Microsoft Outlook™, Thunderbird™ or Eudora™. Microsoft Outlook users have the additional benefit of the eCipher add-in. Sending encrypted email is as easy as clicking the “Send Secure” button.
